Happiness Poem

Another poem from the Arlo from the orca which describes his feelings.

Happiness

Happiness sounds like laughing

Feels like fun

Like a pure and happy life

Refreshing, clear, sweet

Cheerful laughter on a sunny day

Doing things you like

Happiness smells like a strong sweet flower

Like, YAY, Woohoo!

Joy in your heart

A large grin

Birthday cake

Laughter

Like summer

Happiness is about being who you are and having fun with friends and family

Sadness Poem

Another poem from the Arlo from the orca which describes his feelings.

 Sadness

Crying

Cold tear dripping on your face

Water and cold air

Crying

Tears running down your face

Like a cold gust of wind

You are no one

Tears dropping out of your eyes

Into the ocean

Salty tears

Hu hu hu hu hu hu hu hu hu hu hu hu hu hu hu hu

You’ve had enough

Crying salty tears and sweat

Bitter feeling of guilt, depression and regret

Sadness is blue, a rainy day

Arlo and the Orca

A collaborative poem written by all of Room 8. This poem express our feelings about anger looking through the eyes of Arlo from Arlo and the Orca by Monique Walker.

Anger

Anger feels like letting your rage out

A clenched fist

Blood, salty sweat

Growling and yelling

Rough and hot

Like a red face

Anger smells like danger

Like air

Shelter and screaming

Painful and hurtful

Madness and crazy actions of destruction

Like smoke

Burning coal

A fire raging and growing limitlessly

Anger is an emotion you want to show or not,

It starts when we get upset about something

This week Monique and Stacey came to class and presented Monique’s book. We learnt that it’s okay to cry and that life can be  moody, storm with waves of emotion BUT to remember the sun will always come back

Thank you Monique and Stacey for presenting your book!

The Manaiakalani Film Festival Experience

For today’s event 11 school’s around our area went to the massive theatre at Sylvia Park to see our wonderful movies we made. As 11 school’s watch each others movies, we get to see many great movies. I especially like this specific movie by Panmure Bridge school called “Pokeblade,” this movie was awesome! It was filled with laughter and enjoyment, it is a 10 out of 10 in my opinion. There was also some awesome movies like, “In Your Head”-by Ruapotaka School, “School Photo Day Disasters”-by Pt England and “Matter of Faith”-by Pt England. These movies just didn’t stand out as “Pokeblade”. Overall, it was a nice experience and I wish to do it again next year.

Afghanistan to Aotearoa-Diary entry 1-By Amiel

Afghanistan To Aotearoa

Jungle leaves shook furiously then a calm whiff flew in. It was a calm night until I heard the words, “Abba Abba wake up, we gotta go!” At first I didn’t even understand why she would say these kinds of words in the middle of the night, but again in a louder voice “Abba Abba wake up” and that’s when I wiped my eyes and noticed my family packing their belongings. I ask my mother, “what are we doing?” She just shouted to me “pack your belongings, we don’t have much time!” She hurriedly passed me a backpack, and I quickly started to pack my precious belongings. I hear a crackling sound outside with a tut tut sound. I looked outside and saw an old rusted bus with dirty windows. I asked myself,  “am I gonna go on that bus?” One big bump could have caused the whole bus to be split in half. My family and I were ready. It is very dark in the thick jungle, but the light of the bus helps illuminate the area. As I walk closer, each step I take, I can smell the engine smoke getting stronger and stronger, it’s giving me a headache. Waiting for a few minutes in a line we finally climbed aboard the bus seeing ripped leather seats with brown stains. It’s a disgusting image to see but I had no choice. I sat down and tried to get comfortable. A few minutes passed by, the door of the bus closed and we said our final goodbyes to our home.
